On-Column Metal Coating for Electrospray Emitters

Abstract


Stanford Researchers at the Zare Lab have developed a patented on-column metal coating procedure for sheathless electrospray emitters not requiring heating, gluing, or the use of a vacuum. The coating procedure is straightforward, mild, inexpensive, and can be performed with standard laboratory equipment. To date, there are no on-column sheathless electrospray emitters/separation capillaries commercially available. Because of the excellent long-term stability of this electrospray emitter, commercialization and broader availability can be expected.
