Docket #: S23-428
Novel Opioid with Reduced Abuse Potential
According to the National Center of Drug Abuse, over 9M Americans misuse opioids in a year, leading to over 106,000 deaths in 2021. Up to 10% of surgical patients develop opioid dependence after surgery. To address this issue, Stanford researchers have developed an opioid therapy with reduced abuse potential. This approach repurposes an off-patent compound to confer reduced abuse potential.
