Reagents for Epigenetic Research
Researchers in Dr. Or Gozani's laboratory have produced lysine methyltransferases, histone octomers, purified nucleosomes, and antibodies for use in chromatin and epigenetic research. Epigenetics involves modifications to the genome that regulate gene expression without changing the underlying DNA sequence. These modifications help control gene expression by silencing or activating genes at the proper time and location. Epigenetics influences diverse physiological processes and loss of epigenetic control can contribute to a variety of disease states. The reagents provided by this technology may be used to further epigenetic study.
Applications
- Chromatin and epigenetic research
- Binding assays
- Enzymatic assays
- Western analysis
- Histone purification
- Immunoprecipitations
