Radiological imaging is a cornerstone of diagnostic and prognostic healthcare and enables effective diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of a plethora of medical conditions. However, its key limitations include a reliance on the subjective interpretation of scans by physicians and the inability to collect data at multiple imaging settings without additional scan time. Artificial intelligence software tools are revolutionizing healthcare by providing a method to process the dense information contained in radiological images to generate from them either specific interpretations and diagnoses or new images that can improve the physician’s ability to diagnose or treat patients. This intellectual property portfolio from Stanford includes tools that use this powerful new methodology to drastically increase the value of medical images collected using ultrasound, PET, CT, MRI, and other common medical imaging modalities.
